THE LOCKHART SLIDING DOOR LOCK
A proprietary stainless steel slide lock designed by Lockhart Locksmith for sliding glass doors in coastal Sarasota — built to never rust in salt air.

Built for Coastal Florida
Standard sliding door locks use zinc or carbon steel mechanisms that rust within months when installed on beachfront balconies and patio doors. The salt air corrodes the internal components until the lock seizes and won't engage.
The Lockhart Sliding Door Lock was designed and manufactured by Lockhart Locksmith specifically to solve this problem. The mechanism is built from stainless steel — the same material used in marine hardware — so it will not rust, pit, or seize up in coastal environments.
Why Standard Slide Locks Fail on the Coast
Most sliding glass door locks sold at hardware stores use zinc alloy or carbon steel for the internal mechanism. In a dry climate that is fine. In Sarasota — where beachfront condos and homes are exposed to salt air 365 days a year — those materials corrode fast. Within a season or two, the lock becomes stiff, then stuck, then completely seized. The homeowner is left with a sliding door that can't be secured.
We saw this happen over and over on service calls to Siesta Key, Lido Key, and Longboat Key. The solution wasn't a better brand of slide lock — none of them used stainless steel. So we designed our own.
Stainless Steel Where It Matters
The Lockhart Sliding Door Lock uses a stainless steel mechanism for every internal component that touches the lock's moving parts. Stainless steel will not rust in salt air — it is the same material used in boat hardware, marine railings, and coastal architecture. The lock stays smooth and functional year after year, even on a beachfront balcony directly exposed to Gulf breeze.

Balcony Sliding Glass Door Slide Lock Installation
This balcony sliding glass door had no functional secondary lock — a common security gap in Florida condos and homes. The original latch mechanism was the only thing keeping the door closed, and it could be defeated by lifting the panel off the track. We installed the Lockhart Sliding Door Lock directly into the door frame, giving the homeowner a simple, reliable way to secure the door from the inside and prevent the panel from being lifted or forced open.
Because this was a coastal balcony installation, the stainless steel mechanism was essential. A standard zinc-alloy slide lock would have started corroding within the first year. The Lockhart Sliding Door Lock will stay smooth and functional for years with zero maintenance.
